Sunday 21 February

ImageWe start the year with a BYO picnic and pétanque at Armidale Central Park, at 12 noon. There is no cost. Please bring your own food, drinks, crockery, cutlery, chairs, rugs, boules, etc.

Wednesday 10 March -  Wesley Hall, Uniting Church, Rusden Street

Annual General Meeting, at 7.30pm. The formalities include ratification of the President's and Treasurer's reports for 2009, and the election of the new committee. Refreshments will as usual be provided.

Wednesday 14 April, 7.30pm - Wesley Hall, Uniting Church

French Scrabble and Trivia - in Teams. One game is played by four (or more) teams using a scrabble board projected onto a screen. Each team will use their seven letters to create French words, abiding by the usual rules of Scrabble. Each round will be interspersed with trivia questions to improve each teams score. Wine, juice and refreshments as usual.

Saturday 1 May, 10.30am, White Bull

Our first 'causerie' this year. We encourage everyone learning French to come to this informal opportunity for conversation over a coffee or other beverage. No need for fluency!

May 7-9 - French Film Festival - Belgrave Cinema

Instead of our usual Wednesday evening meeting, the Alliance is organising the Touring French Film Festival at the Belgrave Cinema. Fliers are being  distributed widely in the community. If you want one, contact a Committee member, or call in at the Belgrave. Tickets $14 per film ($12 concession) available from the Belgrave Cinema.

Saturday 5 June, 10.30am, White Bull - causerie mensuelle

Another opportunity for members and students to practise speaking French in an informal setting. We had a successful 'causerie ' in May, so are continuing to schedule them as long as we get good participation. No need for fluency!

Wednesday 9 June, 7.30pm, Wesley Hall, Uniting Church

A guest speaker from Morocco will talk to us about her country, culture and food. Wine and refreshments will be served as always.

Saturday 3 July - Causerie, White Bull, 10.30am

An opportunity to test your French speaking skills with other members and students.

Wednesday 11 August, 7pm - 50th anniversary of our Alliance Française

A dinner to celebrate 50 years of Alliance activities in Armidale, at Moore Park Inn. Three-course meal with wine, preceded by hors d'oeuvre and champagne and a chance to mingle. One of our guests is M. Philippe Milloux, Secrétaire Générale de la FAFA in Canberra. This milestone event is being subsidised very generously by your Alliance - so the cost is ONLY $40 for members and $45 for non-members. Registration form available here.
